If you ever find yourself wandering around Vinicombe Street, in the West End, just along from the popular Hillhead Bookclub, make sure to pop into 1841. I came across this little gem thanks to TikTok, and let me tell you, it lives up to the hype!

1841 is a lovely café venture by Thompson Coffee, and is perfect for a sunny day because of its spacious outdoor seating. The inside is small and offers a sophisticated, minimalist vibe, -lots of neutral tones, keeping it simple but stylish. there is not a ton of indoor seating though and for a wee coffee shop it is certainly popular, so be prepared for a small wait for a table or your coffee. But trust me the wait is worth it. 1841 is defo not the kind of place where you'd come to study or hang out for hours; people come for the coffee!!

I ordered a flat white and a croissant, and wow, the coffee was amazing! It had that expensive taste, but without the price tag to match. And the croissant? Hands down one of the best I've ever had- it was warm, with a crispy outside and a soft inside. Absolute perfection. Also was in love with the mug and plate they were served on, little details like that make all the difference. One thing to take note of through is that their menu is pretty small, 1841 only really offer the basics when it comes to their coffee. However they have a variety of syrups to choose from to spice up your coffee and they even offer milk substitutes at no extra cost, as well as a stunning selection of sweet treats!

The staff were super lovely, and they even bring your order to the table, which is a nice touch. 1841 is the type of place where you can tell the regulars come for a reason. It may be basic in appearance, but don't let that fool you- the coffee and sweet treats are anything but that. If you are into quality coffee and a delicious bite to eat, this is the spot. It's a bit of a hidden gem, but definitely the place to be!
