OFF THE RAILS

Recently, I popped into Off the Rails, an independent coffee shop tucked away on Dundas Street in the heart of Glasgow. With its central location, right next to Buchanan Subway Station and across from Queen Street Station, it's a perfect pit stop for commuters, students, or anyone exploring the city.

As soon as I walked in, I noticed the vintage decor, giving the place a cosy, laid-back vibe. The staff were lovely and quick with service, they even brought my coffee to the table, which was a nice touch. I ordered a flat white and a croissant, both of which were delicious. However, they were only offering takeaway cups and paper bags, which didn't quite match the cute independent coffee shop atmosphere. Their coffee is locally roasted, and they offer a decent range of drinks, including frappes, soft drinks and a variety of milk substitutes. They even serve a few alcoholic drinks if you are fancying ;)

However, there were a couple downsides. For starters there was no matcha on the menu, which if you are anything like me, is usually my go-to. Also, despite visiting Off the Rails at 10ish on a Saturday morning, they were running low on pastries, only having croissants which weren't even on display, so I had to ask if they had any. Which was a bit odd :/. On the bright side, there was a good selection of sweet treats to choose from including a few vegan options, they had a vegan carrot biscuit cake that caught my eye! Off the Rails also has a breakfast and sandwich menu, that i will absolutely have to go back and try as the sandwiches looked especially gorge!!

If you are thinking of heading there for a study session, just keep in mind it's a small space and can get busy. The Wi-Fi wasn't working during my visit, but they do have plenty of charging points which is always handy. I also felt very comfortable being alone if that is something you are worried about!

Overall, Off the Rails is a cute, well-designed spot, great for a quick coffee, but maybe not the best for a long stay, socialising or a study session.
